Most of the violence (as far as i can tell) occurs in SE Washington, DC but I don't watch the network channels to establish that. I'd imagine it's wall to wall TV shooting at the moment, because they suddenly have something of substance to report, rather than the usual 9'90 year old woman falls over and breaks arm' type of stuff.
The only violence that occurred anywhere near me was this......http://www.cnn.com/2013/11/04/us/dc-area-sniper-fast-facts/. It froze Northern Virginia. The Home Depot at Baileys Crossroads in Falls Church is 25 minutes drive from me.
I must admit, it made filling your car with petrol an uncomfortable experience, but unlike a lot of people who chose to run around the garage I refused.
